Grup Otantik was founded in 1990 by the keyboard player and soloist of the Murat Ay band. The band consists of 3 members, on clarinet, kanun and keyboard. The repertoire is extensive and includes Turkish folk music, Turkish classical music, Turkish pop music and Arabesk.

The group released 3 multiculural CDs and 1 interactive CD ROM. The soloist of the band also released his own album, 'Metamorfoz', available everywhere in the Netherlands.
A selection from the many performances of Grup Otantik: Holland Festival, Festival Mundial, Dünya Festival, Lom-bok, Bos en Lommer Festival, Luxemburg Festival, Strasbourg Festival, Vondel Park concert, Oosterpark concert and the Roots Festival.
Recently the band was invited for a musical performance in the Dutch TV series Vuurzee.
