Tevazu

Tevazu is a group of Turkish Sufi singers, musicians and Dervish dancers residing in the Netherlands.
The group presents songs, music and dance from the islamic, humanistic Sufi tradition of the Konya Dervishes.
The songs are called illahi', hymns and melodies based on the mystical poems by Yunus Emre and Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi, which are passed on from generation to generation in Turkey, ensuring nearly everyone knows them.
The accompaniment consists of the traditional Sufi instruments, the ney (reed flute) and various drums. The Dervishes also dance their intriguing whirling ritual dance.
Tevazu performs in the Netherlands and Belgium in various line-ups.
Maximum group size: 20 persons: 5 dancers, 4 singers and 10 musicians.
Smallest group: 12 persons: 3 dancers, 3 singers and 6 musicians.
