Dilek - Turkish folk opera about honour killings

Honour killings and honour-related violence are alarming phenomena in both Turkish and European contemporary society. The taboos and conflicts between tradition and modernity that are involved in honour killings return in the new production by theatre company Rast: Dilek, a Turkish folk opera about honour killings. With Dilek Rast intends to expose the roots of the problem and give the victims a voice.
In Dilek authentic Anatolian folk songs are mixed with elements from classical Western opera. Turkish with Dutch supertitles.

Kudsi Erguner and ensemble (Sufi)

Kudsi Erguner comes from a family of ney players, rooted in the Mevlevi Sufi tradition. With his ensemble he performs classical Ottoman compositions on ney (reed flute), ud (lute), kanun (zyther) and def (frame drum), interspersed with sparkling vocal improvisations.

Taksim Trio op Turkey Now! festival 2008

Hüsnü Şenlendirici  (clarinet), İsmail Tunçbilek (baglama) and Aytaç Doğan (kanun)have each individually had a rich career of live performances and studio recordings, gaining them great fame. With their Taksim Trio they bring their world-class talents and the three instruments - clarinet, kanun and baglama - together on one stage.

Teoman - Turkey's King of Rock

Teoman is a songwriter and Turkey's undisputed King of Rock who will now take the stage in the Dutch temple of pop.
His supporting act is the popular Turkish-Dutch band of Tolga Bleda Tuncer with Turkish cover songs.

Nederlands Blazers Ensemble

The NBE created a new chamber opera based on Rossini’s Il Turco in Italia (1814) or The Turk in Italy. The entire libretto, including the aria lyrics, has been rewritten in Dutch. With Johannette Zomer and Frans Fiselier.

Sertab Erener was the 2003 winner of the Eurovision Song Contest. A unique chance to see this Turkish diva perform live in an orchestral setting!
