Taksim Trio
The three passionate musicians Hüsnü Şenlendirici (clarinet), İsmail Tunçbilek (baglama) and Aytaç Doğan (kanun) have each had a rich career of live performances and studio recordings, gaining them great individual fame. With the Taksim Trio they bring the three instruments - clarinet, kanun and baglama - together on one stage. The resulting combination is unique. In their lengthy improvisations Şenlendirici, Tunçbilek and Doğan give musical expression to their various backgrounds, histories and cultures. On their self-titled album the emphasis is on their own compositions and improvisational solos, besides interpretations of works by legendary Turkish artists such as Orhan Gencebay, Zülfü Livaneli and Şükrü Tunar. The Taksim Trio is one of the most remarkable musical projects of the past few years. The combination of clarinet, baglama and kanun, presented by three virtuosos performing with such great vitality, is an enrichment for world music.
